CASE 1: Mixed case of 12 wines
2 x Barramundi Chardonnay Viognier, Australia 13.5%
This is Australia in a glass. Mid straw with a vibrant green hue, it calls you like a road trip through cane fields or coastal forests. You can almost smell the sunshine in the aromas of white peach, apricot and orange blossom. And when you do get that first crisp, fresh taste – with the stone fruit and honeydew melon, balanced by the citrus lemon finish – it’s like a surprising, lively adventure, that you will never want to end. Great with chargrilled prawns, poached chicken salad, or board bean bruschetta and goats’ cheese.
2 x Roc d’Opal Grenache Chardonnay, France 12.5%
Pale yellow robe with straw yellow nuances. Brilliant and limpid colour. The nose is fresh with notes of citrus fruits such as grapefruit and lime and liquorice. Round and fresh on the palate. Spicy flavours with floral and mineral notes. Great on its own or to be served with salads and fish.
2 x Prima Alta Pinot Grigio, Venezie, Italy 12%
Prima Alta’s Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie offers exceptional quality for the price. It is a modern, clean Pinot Grigio with a pale straw colour and gently scented nose with acacia and white blossom flowers. The palate is dry, light to medium bodied with restrained peach and citrus fruit. There is a refreshing underlining acidity with a polished and persistent finish. This wine is perfect for summer drinking and al fresco dining.
2 x Barramundi Shiraz, Australia 14%
If you’ve ever seen Uluru (Ayres Rock) when the sun’s setting, you’ll know this colour – crimson with tinges of red. As you raise your glass, it smells like summer in a country town with satsuma plum, pepper and spice wafting in the air. Then as you gulp that first mouthful – small sips are near impossible – its velvety tannins slide across your tongue, and the rich, ripe flavours of dark berries, fruitcake and vanilla come out to enthusiastically greet you, like the Ladies at an outback fundraiser. Great BB& and steak wine, but equally well with an Eggplant (Aubergine) Parmigiana.
2 x Roc d’Opal Grenache Merlot, France 12.5%
Garnet-red colour with purple-blue tint. Dominance is on cherry, redcurrant and plum notes. The mouth offers a nice freshness with a long-lasting finish. This is a pleasant wine to drink on its own or with roasted meats and cheese.
2 x Lyngrove Merlot, South Africa 14.5%
Bright plum red in colour. Classic style of Merlot with loads of soft red berry fruits on the nose and palate, with a smooth velvety tannin structure. Very accessible wine with fresh acidity and lingering spices on the finish. Very enjoyable with wood fired pizza smothered in tomato, basil and goats’ cheese.
